Successful at the World Championship Cheese Contest 2026: Schärdinger Impresses with Top International Rankings
Wels, March 2026: Great success for Schärdinger: At the World Championship Cheese Contest® 2026, one of the world’s most prestigious quality competitions for dairy products, Austria’s largest cheese producer achieved outstanding rankings.
The competition, held for the 36th time in 2026, is organized every two years by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association and is considered one of the most important international quality contests for cheese and dairy products. Producers from around the world submit their products, which are then evaluated by an international panel of experts based on strict sensory and technical criteria.
Schärdinger achieved excellent results in several categories:
In the Raclette category, Schärdinger Raclette secured an impressive second place, ranking among the best products of its kind worldwide.
Schärdinger also performed strongly in the Edam category: the export bestseller Schärdinger Edam Ball, a cheese matured in a wax coating, was awarded an outstanding third place.
Austrian specialties also showed particular strength in the blue cheese category. The traditional Schärdinger Österkron achieved third place, closely followed by Schärdinger Dolce Bianca in fourth place.
“These outstanding rankings in such a highly respected international competition are a special recognition of the quality of our products,” says Managing Director Josef Braunshofer. “They demonstrate that Austrian cheese expertise can compete successfully on an international level.”
With its Schärdinger brand, Berglandmilch has stood for high-quality cheese and dairy products from Austria for many decades. The latest awards at the World Championship Cheese Contest once again underline the company’s high quality standards and international competitiveness.
