Berglandmilch Takes on Organic Dairy Farmers
Wels, January 13, 2025: A major buyer has recently withdrawn from organic milk processing. As a result, more than 120 organic dairy farmers in Upper and Lower Austria were forced to seek alternative solutions for their operations—and found a new partner in Berglandmilch.
The relatively stable demand for organically produced milk shows that consumers are increasingly placing value on sustainable and animal-friendly production methods. Nevertheless, more than 120 organic farmers had their contracts terminated by their previous dairy. With Berglandmilch as a partner, these farms can now breathe a sigh of relief.
“By integrating these organic dairy farmers, we have the opportunity to further expand our range of high-quality and sustainable products,” says Managing Director Josef Braunshofer.
This integration represents an important step toward more sustainable agriculture and further strengthens Berglandmilch’s sustainability strategy, which extends from raw milk sourcing through to production.
Organic milk remains an important segment for Berglandmilch in all its aspects—so important that the company is also offering milk collection services to organic farms that no longer have prospects with other dairy processors.
